Sparks Residence – Constructed in 1910 by Ethel Sparks, this home is an early local example of ornamental concrete block construction, a building style that was gaining popularity in the early twentieth century for both its durability and decorative potential. In 1912, the residence was purchased by Bryce and Julia Patterson, who had moved to town in 1904 and operated the Arlington Hotel and Bath House directly across the street. The Pattersons owned and managed the hotel and bath house until 1936, linking the home closely to one of the area’s early hospitality operations.
