Hello and welcome to the Pagosa Gateway River Project – 60% Design Virtual Public Review! This platform allows community members to provide valuable input on the evolving Pagosa Gateway River Project.

Since the 30% design open house held on May 23rd, 2024, the project team at FlyWater has refined the plans based on public feedback. Notable updates include:

  • Small hydraulic structures
  • Removal or covering of in-stream hazards
  • Enhanced low-flow boat passage
  • Improved aquatic habitat

These updates are shown within the design plans below. Additionally, the Town of Pagosa Springs is working separately to purchase property north of Highway 84 to create a river park with a public boat ramp for improved river access.

It’s important to note that while the current plans are at the 60% design stage, they are not final. Budget constraints may require modifications or removal of certain proposed improvements as the project progresses. These designs will serve as tools to help the project team navigate regulatory and permitting requirements, guiding decisions toward the final design.

Virtual Stations/Public Comment Space:

You are invited to explore the twelve virtual stations below, which replicate the 60% plan sheets (stations) that will be presented at the in-person public review meeting. The following river section sheets are numbered 1-12, with Section #1 being the furthest downstream portion of the project. The design team at FlyWater will review all comments and incorporate community feedback as they move toward the final design phase.

If you would like to enlarge an image, simply double-click on the images within each station to open them in Google Drive. From there, you can zoom in to view the details. Once you’ve finished reviewing, click the back button on your web browser to return to the station page and continue exploring the open house content.

Key Dates:

  • Virtual Public Review Access: Open to the public through the end of the day on Thursday, October 10th, 2024.
  • In-Person Public Review: A live presentation will be held at the Ross Aragon Community Center (451 Hot Springs Blvd) on Thursday, October 10th, 2024, at 5:30 PM. Please plan to arrive early, as FlyWater will begin presenting the 60% project design promptly at 5:30 PM. Following the presentation, attendees will have the opportunity to leave comments on the plan sheets for further consideration.
