Town-to-Lakes Trail Overview
Presently, navigating the Pagosa area without a motor vehicle poses challenges that can be discouraging to pedestrians and cyclists. The introduction of the Town-to-Lakes (TTL) trail promises to enhance transportation for residents and tourists alike, offering an alternative means of travel. This project not only enhances safety but also elevates the overall quality of life and economic opportunity for active transport enthusiasts, such as pedestrians and cyclists. The TTL will establish a reliable and safe multi-modal transportation option by enhancing connectivity throughout the area by removing physical barriers.
The TTL is a 10+ foot wide, paved, non-motorized commuter trail that will have anchors at pertinent locations such as the San Juan River Trail, Pagosa Elementary School, the Eagle Drive commercial district, Harman Park, Aspen Village, and the City Market Shopping Center.
Since 2011, a series of trail projects have been completed, guided by the principles established in the Town-to-Lakes Trail Master Plan. These projects include two TTL segments spanning from downtown 8th Street to 10th Street and from Pinon Causeway to Aspen Village Drive. Additional enhancements include a pedestrian crosswalk at 1st Street and several linking trails at the downtown Riverwalk.
Building upon this momentum, four ongoing projects are set to elevate connectivity in relation to the TTL Trail. These projects include the installation of a pedestrian crosswalk at Piedra Road leading to Harman Park, the construction of a pedestrian bridge crossing the San Juan River at 1st Street, the improvement of sidewalks as part of various Revitalizing Main Street Projects, and the development of a TTL segment extending from 10th Street to Great West Avenue.
The aim of this survey is to involve the public in the completion of this trail. Public input is crucial to ensure that this significant community infrastructure meets the quality and standards deserving of both this project and our community.

The Town of Pagosa Springs is conducting a community engagement survey for the future development of the Town to Lakes Trail. Please take our brief survey to tell us more about how you would use this trail, which will provide multimodal connectivity between downtown and uptown Pagosa. This survey also contains questions about potential amenities that may be considered for construction based on the preferences from the community. The feedback we receive from this survey will be crucial in determining what amenities should be included.
